Tailwind Plus Alternatives for React Apps in 2026

Most people searching for Tailwind Plus alternatives today have a concrete reason: as of September 2026 you can no longer buy it. Tailwind Labs announced on September 9, 2026 (opens in a new tab) that it is joining Shopify and closing sign-ups for new customers. Existing owners keep their access. When we checked on October 13, 2026, every Tailwind Plus page on tailwindcss.com redirected to a sign-in form.
This guide covers what Tailwind Plus was, where it is still the better tool, and which React options replace it: free component systems, paid block kits and Wingo UI, the library we build. Facts about other products link to the page we read and carry the date we checked. For the wider field of component libraries, read our shadcn alternatives guide; this post focuses on the marketing pages and app screens Tailwind Plus was bought for.
What is Tailwind Plus, and what happened to it?
Tailwind Plus is the official component and template kit from the makers of Tailwind CSS. It was called Tailwind UI until March 4, 2025 (opens in a new tab), when it was renamed with the same content and the same one-time pricing. That is why "tailwind ui alternatives" and "Tailwind Plus alternatives" are the same search.
The last public product page we could read is an archived copy from August 27, 2026 (opens in a new tab). It lists three parts:
- UI Blocks: "500+" component examples in three packages (Marketing, Application UI, Ecommerce), each in HTML, React and Vue. Marketing alone had 12 hero sections and 12 pricing sections.
- Templates: full site templates built with React and Next.js, such as Salient, Radiant, Studio, Syntax and the Oatmeal marketing kit.
- Catalyst: a React UI kit for applications. Per the Catalyst docs (opens in a new tab), you download a zip from your Tailwind Plus account and copy the files into your project; it needs Headless UI, Motion and clsx.
The same archived page listed a Personal license at $299 and a Teams license at $979 for up to 25 people, both one-time payments plus local taxes, with lifetime access to new content. Interactivity used Headless UI (opens in a new tab) in the React and Vue snippets and Elements (opens in a new tab), a custom-element library for Tailwind Plus customers, in the HTML ones.
The September announcement says Tailwind Labs will "no longer be trying to grow the business around Tailwind." It does not say whether new blocks or templates will ship for existing customers, so plan as if the current set is what you get.
Where does Tailwind Plus still win?
If you already own a license, keep using it. Nothing in the announcement takes your access away, and some things are hard to beat:
- Design quality of the marketing sections. The hero, pricing and feature sections are polished, and the templates are complete Next.js sites you can study and ship.
- HTML and Vue. Most alternatives below are React only. Tailwind Plus covers plain HTML and Vue with the same designs.
- Price for a team that already paid. A one-time license for up to 25 people is cheap next to per-developer subscriptions.
- Plain markup. Snippets are Tailwind classes on ordinary elements. There is no component API to learn and no props to look up.
What you give up is everything after the paste. A snippet has no props, so the third pricing section on your site is a third copy of the markup. There is no CLI, so fixes reach you only if you copy the snippet again. And new buyers cannot get any of it.
How do the Tailwind Plus alternatives compare?
Checked on October 13, 2026. Prices are list prices on the vendor's page that day; several show a discount next to a higher price.
The Wingo UI counts come from our registry, release 1.8.0: 218 components, 43 blocks, 45 page templates, 17 hooks and 19 helpers.
Which free alternatives replace Tailwind UI?
If you want a Tailwind UI free alternative for React, start with shadcn/ui. It is MIT licensed, the CLI copies source into components/ui, and its blocks page (opens in a new tab) has free dashboards, sidebars and sign-in pages you install with npx shadcn add dashboard-01. When we checked, the blocks page listed app screens, not hero or pricing sections, so for marketing pages you pair it with a block registry. Many of those are free; the shadcn alternatives guide compares coss ui, Magic UI and Aceternity UI, so we do not repeat them here.
If you work in plain HTML, as many Tailwind Plus buyers did, look at two MIT libraries:
- daisyUI is a Tailwind CSS plugin that adds component class names (
btn, modal, card). It ships no JavaScript and works anywhere CSS works. It is the closest thing to "Tailwind classes on plain markup" with less markup. - Flowbite is an open source tailwind component library with vanilla JavaScript for interactive parts, driven by data attributes such as
data-modal-target. A Flowbite React package exists for React projects, and Flowbite Pro adds sections and full pages under a separate EULA.
Free kits cover components well and full marketing pages less well. That gap is what the paid options sell.
Which paid kits sell marketing blocks?
shadcnblocks is the closest in spirit to Tailwind Plus Marketing: a very large set of blocks, installed through the shadcn CLI. Its pricing page lists Pro at $149, Premium at $299 with 21 templates and a Figma kit, and Elite at $399 with pre-built pages and a page builder, all one-time for a single user, with use in unlimited end products for your company and clients.
Untitled UI React is the code side of the Untitled UI Figma kit, built on React Aria and Tailwind CSS v4. The free tier is open source; PRO adds thousands of components and sections, 250+ page examples and lifetime updates, from $349 one-time for one user on the day we checked. It fits teams whose designers already work in that Figma file.
Both are block kits first. They give you pages, and you bring the app components and their behavior on phones.
Where does Wingo UI fit?
Wingo UI is a React 19 and Tailwind CSS v4 library installed as source, shadcn style. Next to Tailwind Plus it differs in three ways.
Props instead of copies. A marketing section is a component with a prop for every visual aspect. The Hero Section has six layouts (centered, split, stacked, editorial, media, terminal), three backgrounds (or none) and a product shot drawn in code, so the same file covers what would be several snippets. The Pricing Table takes your plans as data, rolls the digits when the Monthly / Yearly switch flips, and becomes a swipeable carousel that starts at the featured plan below 768px.
socialProof={false} hides the sample avatars and rating line until you have real ones to show.
$ npx wingo-ui@latest add pricing-tableWhole pages. The 45 page templates on /templates compose the 20 marketing sections. The Landing Page template has a hero, logos, bento features, a product tour, numbers, quotes, a pricing teaser, an FAQ and a closing CTA, with four designs (classic, bold, editorial, minimal) and a show* prop per section. Templates are page components you mount in your own routes, not standalone Next.js repos like Tailwind Plus templates.
App components and updates. Tailwind Plus Application UI and Catalyst covered app screens with Headless UI. Wingo UI's 218 components are built for apps people also open on phones: select, menus, popovers and dialogs open as bottom sheets below 768px, and tables become cards. When we ship a fix, npx wingo-ui@latest update merges it into files you have edited. The MCP server gives Claude Code, Cursor and Codex the real props and checks your installed versions.
The honest limits: Wingo UI is React only, it is younger than every kit above with a smaller community, and the hero, pricing table and landing page are Pro. The free tier includes the marketing header, footer, logo cloud, FAQ and CTA sections, and the contact and FAQ page templates.
Tailwind Plus vs shadcn: can you mix them?
Yes. Tailwind Plus snippets are Tailwind classes, and shadcn/ui and Wingo UI style with Tailwind classes and CSS variables, so they sit side by side. Two things to watch:
- Colors. Tailwind Plus snippets use palette classes like
bg-indigo-600andtext-gray-900. shadcn/ui and Wingo UI use semantic tokens such asbg-backgroundandtext-muted-foregroundthat flip for dark mode. Swap the palette classes for tokens when you move a section, or dark mode will break on that section only. Our Tailwind v4 dark mode guide explains why the tokens keep both themes designed. - Two interaction libraries. Headless UI for Tailwind Plus snippets and Radix or Base UI for the rest means two sets of focus and portal behavior. Fine for a marketing page next to an app, worth avoiding inside one screen.
If you own Tailwind Plus and build in React, a practical split is Tailwind Plus for the marketing site and a component library for the product.
Which Tailwind Plus alternative should you pick?
- You already own Tailwind Plus: keep using it, especially for HTML or Vue projects.
- You need free React components and app screens: shadcn/ui and its blocks.
- You build in plain HTML or several frameworks: daisyUI or Flowbite.
- You need many marketing sections and pages, one-time price: shadcnblocks.
- Your designers use the Untitled UI Figma kit: Untitled UI React.
- You need marketing pages and an app that works on phones, with updates: Wingo UI.
More head to head comparisons live under Comparisons and alternatives, including Wingo UI vs shadcn/ui.
To try the approach for free, install the marketing pieces in the free tier with npx wingo-ui@latest add marketing-header cta-section faq-section, or open the Landing Page template and resize it to 390px to see how each section behaves on a phone. Pro plans are on the pricing page.
FAQ
Can you still buy Tailwind Plus?
Not as a new customer. On September 9, 2026, Tailwind Labs announced it was joining Shopify and closing sign-ups for new customers of Tailwind Plus. Existing customers keep their access, and Tailwind CSS itself stays MIT licensed.
What is the best free alternative to Tailwind UI?
For React, shadcn/ui: MIT licensed, installed with a CLI, with free blocks for dashboards, sidebars and sign-in pages. For plain HTML, daisyUI and the open source Flowbite library are both MIT licensed and work with any framework.
Is Tailwind Plus the same as Tailwind UI?
Yes. Tailwind UI was renamed Tailwind Plus on March 4, 2025, with the same components, templates and Catalyst UI kit, still as a one-time purchase. Search engines and older posts still use both names.
Tailwind Plus vs shadcn: which one should I use?
Tailwind Plus is a library of snippets and full site templates you paste and adapt, with Headless UI for interactivity. shadcn/ui is a free component system installed by a CLI on Base UI, Radix or React Aria. If you already own Tailwind Plus, use both: its marketing sections next to shadcn/ui components work fine.
Do Tailwind Plus components work with Tailwind CSS v4?
Yes. The archived Tailwind Plus page from August 2026 says everything is built for the latest Tailwind CSS, v4.3 at the time, and the Catalyst docs ask for the latest Tailwind CSS v4 release.
